Mostafa Saifi Rahmouni introduces his research project The Only Way, in which he aims to delve into the profound relationship between animal and human behaviour in everyday life. By challenging the notion of human superiority, Mostafa seeks to illustrate how primal instincts influence behaviour and blur the lines between humans and other species. Through this project, he hopes to break down barriers and reveal the interconnectedness of all life forms.
This project represents a significant progression in Mostafa's practice blending existing subjects with new explorations. Already during his residency at WIELS, his practice involved the transformation of ordinary elements into works that provoke reflection on larger themes. Using various media such as sculpture, photography and installation, he interweaves everyday fragments and shows the intersection of the mundane and the profound.
Through residencies and travels, Mostafa observes behaviours in diverse contexts, drawing inspiration from the concept of survival amidst socio-economic challenges. He aims to shed light on marginalized practices and objects, emphasising resilience and adaptation.
In collaboration with experts in biology and anthropology, Mostafa's project bridges art and science and thus fosters a broader dialogue.
The presentation of the research project at AFFILIATE on 14 March marks just the beginning. He provides a glimpse into the project, showcases new works in progress and invites discussion. Join Mostafa on this journey of investigation and discovery.
The Only Way - Research Project is supported by Kunstendecreet, Moussem, Saffca and Africa Museum
