Book Launch: Burning the Days: An Exhibition (EN)
Astrup Fearnley Museet and WIELS are pleased to present Lutz Bacher, Burning the Days: An Exhibition, a new publication accompanying the first posthumous survey exhibition dedicated to the work of Lutz Bacher.
To mark the publication, Helena Kritis, chief curator, will be joined by Beatrix Ruf, director of the Hartwig Foundation, for a conversation on Bacher’s relationship to publishing and exhibition-making.
On the occasion of the book launch, the catalogue will be available at the special price of €35. You may pre-order it at this reduced price by registering below.

Central to the discussion will be the new catalogue and Snow (2013), the now iconic publication produced on the occasion of Bacher’s exhibitions at Portikus, Institute of Contemporary Arts and Kunsthalle Zürich in 2013-14, and co-edited by Ruf. In Snow, Bacher assembled three decades of work into a dense, index-like volume resembling a personal archive or inventory — a book that both documents and obscures the artist at the same time.
Burning the Days: An Exhibition occupies a distinct place within the lineage of Bacher’s artist books. It is the first major publication on Bacher produced entirely after her death and without her direct involvement or design input. The catalogue brings together three newly commissioned essays that approach Bacher’s art from distinct yet intersecting perspectives.
