The publication Another Ghost Party traces the collaboration between artist Manon de Boer and dancer and choreographer Latifa Laâbissi, begun in 2016. This “ghost party” revolves around a cast of “ghosts” who have affected both their practices, from Lygia Clark and Frantz Fanon to Beyoncé and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Their collaboration generated the performance Ghost Party (1), 2021, the films Ghost Party (2) and Persona, both 2022, the exhibition Blindsight in Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in 2022, and now this book.
To the many dialogues involved in De Boer’s and Laâbissi’s project, this publication brings a host of new ones, through conversations with Fabian Flückiger, Ailton Krenak, Olivier Marboeuf, Laila Melchior, Laurens Otto, and Suely Rolnik. These conversations highlight key artistic and political questions that mobilised De Boer’s and Laâbissi’s collaboration, notably regarding questions around the voice, divergent strands of modernisms, and ecological urgencies.
Another Ghost Party is published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König in collaboration with Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens and Kunstmuseum St.Gallen. The publication was made possible with the support of the Mondriaan Fund and Jan Mot.
