WIELS presents Lucas Gallo's film Diciembre (2025), an atmospheric chronicle of Argentina's 2001 crisis, told through restored archival material of the uprising ¡Que se vayan todos! (They all must go), in dialogue with Call me gravity.
Diciembre reconstructs this moment using restored archival material, capturing the spontaneity of protests and the political instability that led to five presidential resignations. Through television footage, it immerses viewers in a real-time experience of this crucial period in Argentine history.

Lucas Gallo is an Argentine filmmaker with a multidisciplinary background developed across Argentina, Spain, and Cuba. His work is marked by a constant exploration of the boundaries between different audiovisual genres, following the tradition of conceptual art, where the idea prevails over form. Oscillating between documentary, fiction, experimental cinema, and video art, Gallo pursues impure and playful forms, resisting any trace of solemnity.
His films explore the relationship between image, history, and power, and are built through processes of research and editing in which archival material is understood as a living matter, capable of acquiring new meanings when placed back into circulation. In his work, editing does not simply organise the narrative, but functions as a tool for thought.
His first feature film, 1982, premiered at IDFA in 2019 and was screened at numerous international festivals. The film received the Best Film Award at Festival Márgenes in Madrid and had a significant circulation across Latin America, including commercial releases in several countries.
His second feature film, Diciembre, premiered in the International Competition at IDFA 2025, where it received the award for Best Editing.
Gallo first studied cinematography in Spain before continuing his training at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires. He later obtained a Master’s Degree from the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) in Cuba.
