Congolese author In Koli Jean Bofane (b.1954, Mbandaka) is an award-winning novelist. Pourquoi le lion n'est plus le roi des animaux (Gallimard Jeunesse, 1996,) earned him the ‘Prix de la Critique de la Communauté française’ of Belgium. In 2015, he also won the ‘Prix littéraire des bibliothèques’ for his novel Congo Inc. le testament Bismarck (Editions Actes Sud, 2014). Congolese mathematics (De Geus, 2008) is his first novel to be published in Dutch. His work has been translated in the United States, Germany, Britain, Brazil, Korea and Slovenia. Bofane lives in Belgium.
