Sabine Folie's lecture will draw from the text “Pompe funèbre und Resurrektion”, published in the artist book/catalogue that accompanied the exhibition Les secrets de la mémoire by Willem Oorebeek at Magazin 4 Bregenzer Kunstverein in 2016.

Biography

Sabine Folie is an art historian, author, and curator. She is the director of the Art Collections of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She has been the Director of the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz, Research Center for Media and Performance Art (2017–2021) and Professor for Performance Art and Time-related Media at the University of Art and Design Linz. She was Guest Professor of Theory at the MFA Programme Public Art and New Artistic Strategies at Bauhaus-University Weimar(2017–2019). She was the Director of the Generali Foundation, Vienna, from 2008 until March 2014, and Chief Curator at Kunsthalle Wien from 1998 until 2008. Since the 1990ies she has curated numerous exhibitions and edited many publications.
