Curator and architect Gabriela de Matos will lead a discussion on the multiple dimensions present in Paulo Nazareth's work, which collectively shape the artist's unique symbolic universe—encompassing familial, institutional, and individual aspects. This exploration will delve into key themes in Nazareth's art, including immigration, racialisation, globalisation, and colonialism, highlighting how these elements intertwine to inform his artistic narrative.
Biography
Gabriela de Matos is a Brazilian architect, curator, and professor. She specializes in Afro-Brazilian architecture and holds a Master's degree in Humanities and Rights. Gabriela was also awarded with the Golden Lion from the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale (2023). She is currently in an artist residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, as part of the Atlantic Threads program.
