The Music of Time and Gesture: A Conversation between Jean-Luc Plouvier, Nicolas Donin and Bojana Cvejic (EN)
What are the gestures in the sound of music and the movement of musicians that shape the “spiral of time”? What does it mean to perform a choreography of musical gestures, and redistribute the visible and the audible by bodily movement outside of concert?
The conversation brings together musicologist and researcher from IRCAM, Nicolas Donin, and pianist and one of artistic leaders of the Ictus ensemble, Jean-Luc Plouvier, together with performance theorist and dramaturge Bojana Cvejić, around these two central questions raised by Gérard Grisey’s Vortex Temporum, with respect to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s eponymous choreography from which Work/Travail/Arbeidtakes its cue. With musical demonstrations on piano by Jean-Luc Plouvier.
