Conversation & lecture-performance: Joëlle de La Casinière, Olimpia Hruska, Jean-Philippe Convert (FR)
On the occasion of the reprint of Le pays où tout est permis (1972), curator Caroline Dumalin will have a conversation with Joëlle de La Casinière and Olimpia Hruska on the genesis of Sophie Podolski’s singular manuscript and the time and environment in which it was conceived.

Artist Joëlle de La Casinière is the book’s initial publisher and the exhibition’s main lender. She is the co-founder of the artist’s community Montfaucon Research Center, where Sophie Podolski lived and worked for the most part of her activity, between 1969 and 1973. She is also the author of the intimate film tribute to Podolski titled Dans la Maison (du Montfaucon Research Center) from 2017, which is screened in the exhibition in an adapted version.
Artist Olimpia Hruska was part of the Montfaucon community until she relocated to Italy after the group dispersed as of 1973. Sophie Podolski wrote Le pays in the summer of 1971 during a two-month stay in Switzerland with Hruska.
The conversation is introduced by a lecture-performance titled Readings from The Country Where Everything is Permitted by artist Jean-Philippe Convert, who since two years has been engaged in a literary dialogue with Podolski’s work.
