Newspeak Posters
€ 1000
Series of 12 A1 posters, each printed in an edition of 100 copies, distributed throughout the city twice during the exhibition
Created for the exhibition Call me gravity, Newspeak Posters by Annaik Lou Pitteloud (1980, Switzerland; lives and works between Bern and Brussels) explore the transformative power of political and activist language. The work comprises a series of twelve posters, originally installed both within the exhibition and across the city at two moments during its run.
Drawing on slogans and political texts, the artist fragments, reassembles, and sequences words into concise public statements in which meaning never stands still. Both a critical reflection and an affirmation of the persistence of social struggles, the work expresses the artist's belief that the memory and impact of these movements endure, even after apparent defeat, continuing to exist in latent form.
The A1 posters (84,1 cm x 59,4 cm) are available for purchase at the WIELS bookshop for 10€ each.
Reservations and international shipping are available upon request via email: bookshop@wiels.org
Co-produced in the frame of the group exhibition Call me gravity, with the support of Pro Helvetia Swiss Arts Council
