Laura Herman is curator, schrijfster en artistiek mededirecteur van NW, Open House for Contemporary Art and Film in Aalst. Daarnaast is ze opleidingsverantwoordelijke van de postdoctorale opleiding Curatorial Studies aan KASK & Conservatorium in Gent.
Bij NW omvatten recente projecten solotentoonstellingen met Pauline Curnier Jardin, Ula Sickle, Basyma Saad, Guy Woueté en Fernando Marques Penteado, evenals de groepstentoonstellingen Ritual in Transfigured Time en Songs of Dissent. Eerder was ze als curator bij La Loge in Brussel (2016–2020) verantwoordelijk voor tentoonstellingen van Uriel Orlow, Carey Young en Zoë Paul. Van 2018 tot 2020 was ze curator van The New Sanctuary, het 12e satellietprogramma van Jeu de Paume, ontwikkeld in samenwerking met CAPC Bordeaux en Museo Amparo in Puebla.
In 2022 ontving Herman de Prijs voor Jonge Kunstkritiek voor haar essay over Camille Henrot en het moederschap. Haar teksten zijn verschenen in diverse internationale publicaties en ze heeft bijgedragen aan talrijke kunstenaarsmonografieën en tentoonstellingscatalogi. Samen met Henry Andersen was ze co-redacteur van *The Floor Is Uneven. Does It Slope?* (Mousse Publishing, 2019).
Herman is voorzitter van het bestuur van de Contour Biënnale en maakt deel uit van de adviesraad van Kunsthal Mechelen, de Aankoopcommissie van de Collectie van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap en het VAF Filmlab-comité.
Laura Herman is a curator, writer, and artistic co-director of NW, Open House for Contemporary Art and Film in Aalst. She is also course director of the postgraduate Curatorial Studies programme at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent.
At NW, recent projects include solo exhibitions with Pauline Curnier Jardin, Ula Sickle, Basyma Saad, Guy Woueté and Fernando Marques Penteado, as well as the group exhibitions Ritual in Transfigured Time and Songs of Dissent. Previously, as curator at La Loge, Brussels (2016–2020), she curated exhibitions by Uriel Orlow, Carey Young and Zoë Paul. Herman is president of the board of Contour Biennale and serves on the advisory board of Kunsthal Mechelen, the Acquisition Committee of the Flemish Community Collection and the VAF Filmlab Committee.
