Fumimaro Ayano (1992°, Japan) works and lives in Japan

Fumimaro's practice focuses on everyday images and objects, which he modifies and re-contexualises, often referencing photography’s role in the narrative of modern art history. He does this by means of analyzing and deconstructing certain societal and everyday phenomena, taking into mind its linguistic properties and playing on the meaning and etymology of certain words and phrases, which aims to put into question the representation of cultural customs, traditions and beliefs.

The residency of Fumimaro Ayano is supported by TOKAS - Dep. Cultuur, Jeugd en Media.
