With Wiels as a pretext several guest speakers will present their view on the relationship between art and architecture. This way they will contribute to the question how one discipline relates itself to other in public and private spaces.
To create a new art center is about the stories youre telling. That is why a collection should not only be new content. A museum is still the white cube: we have moved from the white cube of galleries and museums to the black box of cinema, with nothing in between.
Architecture is a medium to negotiate and activate the relationship between the public and the work of art. Wiels is not a showroom for art; it is above all a cross-disciplined institution with a social, political economic and urban program.
The lectures are free.
