He studied in the mid eighties architectural design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam and later art history at the University in Brussels. In the early nineties he was artistic director at the Architekturforum in Zürich, assistant-curator at Le Magasin in Grenoble, exhibition curator at the Fondation pour l'Architecture, Brussels; later head of visual arts for the annual theatre Festival a/d Werf, Utrecht, head of the exhibition department at deSingel, international arts campus, Antwerp and director of El Canodrom, centre for contemporary art in Barcelona. From on fall 2013 he will direct the exhibition department of the gta-institute for history and theory in architecture at the ETHUniversity in Zurich. In 2010 he was a member of the jury for the Golden Lions at the 12th Architecture Biennial in Venice.
